Recently, China has seen a boom in "aircraft carrier tourism" among domestic tourists, whose interest has been piqued by the successful maiden voyage of China's first aircraft carrier.

There are two real aircraft carriers that have been refitted to serve the purpose of creating tourist attractions in China. They are the Kiev and the Minsk aircraft carriers located at military-themed amusement parks in Tianjin and Shenzhen, respectively. During this summer vacation, these refitted aircraft carriers attracted thousands of tourists across the country to visit each day.

Both of the aircraft carriers were manufactured by the former Soviet Union and then were sold to current Chinese operators after their withdrawal from military service. Tourists can gain a glimpse of the naval life onboard by visiting some scene exhibition areas that maintain the original layout, such as the crew's living area and warfare command center. It is reported that part of the Kiev is undergoing refitting to become the first aircraft carrier hotel in China

In addition to those two real aircraft carriers, a full-sized U.S aircraft carrier replica was built in Oriental Park near Shanghai that aims to increase citizens' awareness of national defense and to provide an education base for teenager students.
