THE girl who was the last survivor to be pulled from the wreckage of last month's bullet train crash is likely to be left with permanent disability, city doctors said yesterday.

Xinhua Hospital organized a group consultation on 33-month-old Xiang Weiyi - better known as Yi Yi - after she was transferred there from Wenzhou in Zhejiang Province on Monday.

Primary checks found the girl's left thigh muscle had suffered shortening.

"This is an irreversible injury to nerves and muscle," said Dr Zhao Li, director of Xinhua's pediatric orthopedics department.

Yi Yi's legs were trapped for more than 21 hours after the accident that left 40 people dead, including her parents, and nearly 200 injured.
