Chinese Air Force Bayi Aerobatics Team arrives in Russia with seven J-10 fighters

The Bayi (August 1) Aerobatic Team of the Air Force of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLAAF) has arrived in Russia for its first overseas airshow at the 11th Moscow International Aviation and Space Salon with seven J-10 fighters.

Participation in the flight demonstrations abroad is different with that at home, with higher requirements on meteorological, equipment and technical support, said Major General Yin Zhuo in an interview with China's Central Television.

The Bayi Aerobatics Team is scheduled to stage three air shows at the forthcoming Moscow air show from August 30 to September 1, and will show "Blue Sky ballet" for the spectators.

To ensure flight safety and make flight demonstrations achieve the expected effect, more parts and technical support are needed than in the domestic show; on the other hand, the pilots' ability to adapt to external conditions will need to be tempered.

Yin Zhuo said flying in Russia is different from flying at home. In Russia, we must rely on local forecasts to make accurate meteorological support, which has an important impact on the pilots' performance and psychology. A lot of special equipment, including large aircraft such as IL-76, battery car, special oils, inflatable and testing equipment, ground maintenance facilities and the engineering and technical personnel will be transported to Russia along with the performing aircraft.

Yin Zhuo said that the Bayi (August 1) Aerobatics Team had been very successful, and he believed it will also be able to demonstrate a good military style this time. In addition to the Moscow Air show, the Aerobatics Team will also participate in other major air shows in the future, so as to improve its visibility, and also to learn from foreign experience and technologies.
