BRATISLAVA, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- The Slovak Defense Ministry is planning to withdraw some of its soldiers from the ISAF mission in Afghanistan within the next few months, according to a proposal approved by the government at its session earlier on Wednesday.

The ministry has proposed to withdraw by the end of this September Slovakia's six-member D-30 howitzer advisory team which has been deployed in the Afghan province of Uruzgan since September 2012.

The Slovak soldiers active in the Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) team in the province of Kandahar should be sent home by the end of December, according to the proposal.

It also proposed to send a five-member military medical team to Afghanistan in January 2014, which will work within the Czech and Slovak surgical team at the international airport in Kabul.

"The military medical staff will acquire valuable and practical experience in Afghanistan during actual engagement in a military operation. This experience will then be used within the planned joint military group of the Visegrad Four countries in the ROLE 2 field hospital," said Defense Minister Martin Glvac.
