BEIJING, July 23 (ChinaMil) -- Fang Fenghui, member of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the People's Republic of China (PRC) and chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), held talks with Gaurav Shumsher JB Rana, the visiting chief of staff of the Nepalese Armed Forces, on the afternoon of July 22, 2013 in Beijing.
Fang Fenghui said that China and Nepal are friendly neighbors with common mountains and rivers. The relations between the Chinese and Nepalese militaries have been maintaining a healthy and steady momentum of development in recent years. The Chinese side appreciates the Nepalese side for its consistent adherence to the one-China policy and firm support on the major issues concerning Tibet, etc., and is willing to make joint efforts with the Nepalese side to deepen the exchanges and cooperation in such fields as high-level reciprocal visits, personnel exchanges, education and training between the two militaries, so as to push forward constant development of the relations between the two militaries under the new situation.
Rana expressed his sympathy and solicitude for the earthquake disaster at the juncture of Minxian county and Zhangxian county, Gansu province. He gave a briefing on the changes in Nepal's security situation at home and abroad, and expressed his willingness to work together with the Chinese side to constantly push forward the traditional friendly relations between the two countries and the two militaries.
Before the talks, Fang Fenghui held a welcome ceremony for Rana and accompanied him to review the guard of honor of the three services of the PLA.
