BEIJING, May 3, (ChinaMil) -- Qi Jianguo, deputy chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), met with Brendan Sargeant, the visiting deputy secretary strategy of the Australian Department of Defence, in Beijing yesterday morning.
While the relations between China and Australia has been maintaining a good development momentum, the relations between the two militaries has also been constantly pushed forward, as evidenced by frequent exchange of high-level visits, smooth operation of the defense strategic consultation mechanism and stable expansion of exchange and cooperation in professional fields, Qi Jianguo said.
He expressed that the Chinese side is willing to work with the Australian side to explore the new ways and new fields for military-to-military exchange and cooperation between the two countries.
Sargeant informed the Chinese side of the to-be-issued National Defence White Paper of Australia.
He expressed that Australia attaches importance to developing relations with China and hopes to further deepen exchange and cooperation between the two countries in the defense fields.
