SOFIA, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- A senior official of the Chinese People's Armed Police Force (PAPF) here on Tuesday pledged to deepen bilateral cooperation with Bulgaria in areas such as combating terrorism.

"There are many areas where we can collaborate, and the prospects for our cooperation are excellent," Lieutenant-General Dai Sujun, deputy commander of PAPF, said at a meeting with Veselin Vuchkov, Bulgaria's Deputy Minister of Interior.

"I hope we can deepen our cooperation in areas such as counter-terrorism and training of personnel," Dai said.

He said relations between the two countries are very good, and this provides a good foundation for the development of relations between PAPF and Bulgarian Ministry of Interior.

Vuchkov said his ministry considered this meeting as an opportunity to deepen the good bilateral relations.

"We are ready for an open dialogue and exchange of experience with our Chinese counterparts," Vuchkov said.

In 1996, an agreement was signed between the interior ministries of China and Bulgaria, and many issues have been solved, mainly related to the security of the Chinese embassy and the Chinese citizens in Bulgaria, Vuchkov said.

During its four-day visit to Bulgaria ending on Thursday, the delegation led by Lieutenant-General Dai, will have meetings at the Bulgarian Directorate for Combating Organized Crime, the National Police, the Interior Ministry Academy and the Specialized Counter-Terrorism Unit.
