Chinese military pentathlon delegation holds departure ceremony

The Chinese military pentathlon delegation to participate in the 59th World Military Pentathlon Championship of the International Military Sports Council (CISM) held a departure ceremony on August 11, 2012 at the "August 1" Military Sports Group under the General Staff Headquarters (GSH) of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA).

The championship of this year is scheduled to be opened on August 14 in Lahti, a city in south Finland. It will run to August 19.

The World Military Pentathlon Championship is organized every year by the CISM. It includes five military subjects, namely, 300-meter large-caliber rifle shooting, 500-meter obstacle running, 50-meter obstacle swimming, grenade precision throwing and distance throwing, and men's 8,000-meter and women's 4,000-meter cross-country running.

At previous championships, the Chinese military pentathlon delegation made brilliant achievements as evidenced by the fact that the men's team has won the championship for 16 consecutive years and the women's team has won the championship for 11 consecutive years.
