The reporters learned from the China Astronaut Research and Training Center on June 17, 2012 that Chinese astronauts Jing Haipeng, Liu Wang and Liu Yang will conduct 15 space experiments related to aerospace medicine besides manual-control rendezvous and docking in the mission of the first manned rendezvous and docking between the Shenzhou IX spacecraft and the Tiangong-1 space laboratory module.
Li Yinghui, deputy chief designer of the China Astronaut Research and Training Center, said that 5 experiments among the 15 space experiments are of overriding importance, including research on the space flight impacts on vestibular eye movement, cardiovascular system and advanced brain functions, research on cellular mechanisms of weightless physiological effect protection, research on prevention technology of bone loss in space, collection and analysis of in-orbit harmful gases and astronauts' in-orbit mass measurement.
