Indian warships visit Shanghai

The year 2012 marks the "China-India Friendship and Cooperation Year". Led by Rear Admiral Ajit Kumar, commander of the Eastern Fleet of the Indian Navy, the Indian naval ship formation composed of Rana guided missile destroyer, Shivalik guided missile frigate, Karmuk corvette and Shakti oil and water supply ship arrived at the Shanghai Port International Cruise Terminal on the morning of June 13, 2012 for a five-day-long friendly visit.

  Vice Admiral Cooper, commander of the Eastern Sea Area of the Indian Navy, arrived in Shanghai on June 11. He visited Vice Admiral Su Zhiqian, commander of the East China Sea Fleet of the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), after the arrival of the Indian ship formation.

  The Indian Navy held a reception on the deck of Shakti oil and water supply ship at the very night.

  During the visit, the Chinese and Indian officers and men will visit each other's warships and hold a friendly football match. The military band of the Indian Navy will also stage a military music show at the square of the Oriental Pearl TV Tower.

  After the visit, the naval ships from the two navies will also carry out a joint maritime drill including communication verification and warship formation movement.

  A total of 1,225 Indian officers and men come for a visit with the ship formation this time, among them there are 140 officers, 35 cadets and 1,050 soldiers. This is the 5th time for Indian warships to visit Shanghai.
