(PLA Daily)

The reporters saw on June 7, 2012 that the main bodies of the fifth-generation barracks have been completed on the barrack sites of the Simhana frontier defense company under the Xinjiang Military Area Command (MAC) of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA).

The Xinjiang MAC of the PLA guards the 6,700-odd-kilometer borderline. Most frontier defense companies and sentry posts are stationed on snow-capped mountains and plateaus at the altitude of over 3,000 meters where the climate is harsh and the environment is tough. Incomplete domestic installations and poor heat preservation effect of the old-fashioned barracks posed difficulties to living support which have haunted the frontier defense guards on the plateaus.

The Central Military Commission (CMC) of the People's Republic of China (PRC), the General Headquarters/Departments of the PLA, the Lanzhou Military Area Command (MAC) and the Xinjiang MAC of the PLA decided to make investment in systematically constructing and renovating the logistics facilities of high-altitude companies such as the company at Shenxianwan at the beginning of the year 2007.

The first fifth-generation architectural complex which costs over 14 million yuan and has a floorage of more than 1,700 square meters was completed and was put into use in the Shenxianwan frontier defense company on October 8, 2008.

The reporters learned from the Housing Office of the PLA Xinjiang MAC that the new buildings will be officially put into use in the Simhana frontier defense company prior to October this year, marking that the fifth-generation multifunctional barracks will be available in all the frontier defense companies with an elevation of 3,000-odd meters under the Xinjiang MAC.

According to the briefing, the newly constructed and commissioned barracks of the Biedieli frontier defense company adopt more than 30 kinds of new materials, new equipment and new technology, and are equipped with "ten major systems" including direct-drinking water purification system, solar-powered and boiler bathing system, solar-powered and diesel engine generating system, boiler heating and solar heating system and so on, which are more humanistic.
