Chen Bingde to attend SCO chief of general staff meeting

Chen Bingde, member of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the People's Republic of China and chief of the general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), will attend the 2nd chief of general staff meeting of the armed forces of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member countries.

  At a regular press conference held by the Ministry of National Defense (MND) of the People's Republic of China on the afternoon of May 31, 2012, Yang Yujun, spokesman of the MND, said the chief of general staff meeting of the armed forces of the SCO member countries will be held on June 7, 2012 in Hudzhand, Tajikistan. Chen Bingde, CMC member and PLA chief of general staff, will lead a delegation to attend the meeting after wrapping up his visit to Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan.

  Yang Yujun said Chen Bingde will participate in the strategic consultation on the "Peace Mission 2012" joint anti-terrorism military exercise on June 8, 2012 together with the chiefs of general staff of the participating countries.
