Australian 'Ballarat' frigate visits Shanghai

The Australian naval frigate Ballarat arrives at a military port in Shanghai, China, May 17, 2012, to start its five-day visit to Shanghai till May 21. ( Shan) 

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Australia, the "Ballarat" frigate of the Royal Australian Navy led by Cdr. Jonathan Early, captain of the "Ballarat" frigate, paid a friendly visit to Shanghai from May 17 to 21, 2012.

  During their visit in Shanghai, Jonathan Early and the principal officers of the Australian warship met with Rear Admiral Shen Hao, commander of a Shanghai-based Maritime Garrison of the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), and a leader of the Shanghai Municipal Government. The Shanghai-based Maritime Garrison Command of the PLA Navy held a reception to welcome the Australian warship. The Chinese and Australian officers and men visited each other's warships and held a friendly basketball match.

  A reception was held on the deck of the "Ballarat" frigate docking at the Yangtze River Port of the PLA Navy. The officers and men of the Australian warship also toured some places of attractions including the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, the Yuyuan Garden and the Shanghai Circus World.
