PLA Navy and Tsinghua University hold "Marine Outlook Education Day"

With the signing and opening ceremony of the "Marine Outlook Education Base" held at the Museum of the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895 on the Liugong Island in Weihai of east China's Shandong province, the 6th "Marine Outlook Education Day" activity jointly held by the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) and the Tsinghua University started on the morning of May 20, 2012.

  The "Marine Outlook Education Day" activity themed on national defense education with the PLA Navy characteristics was jointly established by the PLA Navy and the Tsinghua University in the year 2007, aiming at arousing the enthusiasm of the young people for paying close attention to ocean, maritime rights and coastal defense, and joining the PLA Navy.

  With six years of continuous and in-depth efforts, the activity has radiated and involved 100 cities, 100 colleges and 100 enterprises nationwide and achieved further consensus on loving the ocean and planning and managing the ocean among all sectors of the society, so as to push forward the building of harmonious ocean together.

  According to statistics, a total of more than 30 thousand local leaders at various levels, over 500 thousand teachers and students of universities, middle schools and primary schools, and over 300 thousand enterprise workers who support the army have participated in marine outlook publicity and education activities successively.
