China’s Academy of Military Science held opening ceremony for its National Defense Policy Research Center and China-U.S. Defense Relations Research Center on Dec. 20.
The National Defense Policy Research Center is under the academy’s Department of War Theory and Strategic Research, and the China-U.S. Defense Relations Research Center is under the academy’s Department of World Military Research.
The main tasks of the National Defense Policy Research Center include participating in the formulation of China’s defense white paper, preparing the annual strategic assessment report on the country’s security environment, examining major theoretical and practical issues concerning national defense, and holding academy-wide, military-wide, or international seminars on national defense theories at appropriate times.
The main tasks of the China-U.S. Defense Relations Research Center include examining major practical issues concerning China-U.S. defense relations, promoting bilateral academic exchanges and communication in national defense, explaining the policy and stance of the Chinese government and armed forces in a targeted manner and holding national or international academic seminars at appropriate times.
The academy’s president Liu Chengjun and political commissar Sun Sijing attended the ceremony.
