The Second Naval Triathlon Competition & Naval English Contest was unveiled in Qingdao, east China's Shandong Province, on August 6, 2011, as a separate part in celebration of the 2011 Qingdao International Marine Festival.

This activity is hosted by the Headquarters and the Military Training Department of the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) and co-hosted by the PLA Naval Submarine Academy and Qingdao Construction Investment Group.

During the two-day-long activity, the participating teams from the Naval Engineering University, the Naval Aeronautic Engineering Institute, the Dalian Naval Academy of the PLA and the like competed in maritime items such as 1,000 meters swimming in the sea, 7,000 meters sailing of 13-person sampans and flying-tiger-alike sailboat navigation in addition to naval English contest.

The participating cadets said that such activities helped steel their fighting spirit, endow them with indomitable will and foster team spirit, and provided opportunities of expanding their international horizon and enhancing their capabilities of communication and exchanges with foreign militaries on various occasions.
