BEIJING, Feb. 27 -- A total of 110 spokesmen from Communist Party of China committees and government offices launched personal microblog accounts in an online "Beijing press conference hall" on Thursday.
The digital location, China's first microblog accounts group themed on government affairs, aims to improve communication and interaction between government and the public, said Wang Hui, director of the Information Office of Beijing Municipal Government.
"Many of our work fields are the focuses of netizens' attention, and the microblog works as a bridge," said Jiang Guiping, spokesman for the Beijing Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, posting under the screen name "Lotus Dove."
The municipal government information office launched the online group on Weibo.com in November 2011, and expanded to people.com and qq.com in August 2013. From January, citizens have also been able to access the service via instant massaging application WeChat.
