Wang Min elected CPC chief of Liaoning province

Wang Min was elected secretary of the Liaoning Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on October 13, 2011.

Wang, born in March 1950, was elected to the post at the first plenary meeting of the 11th CPC Liaoning Provincial Committee held in Hubei.

As a native of east China's Anhui Province, Wang holds a doctorate in machinery manufacturing. He took on jobs as a farmer, worker and college teacher before becoming deputy president of Nanjing Aeronautics and Astronautics University. He was made deputy governor of Jiangsu Province, east China, in December 1996.

He also served as governor of Jilin Province and secretary of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee from 2005 to 2009.
