BEIJING, March 26 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese leader Zhou Yongkang on Monday called for improved work by political and legislative departments and stressed the Party's leadership.
Zhou, secretary of the Committee of Political and Legislative Affairs of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the comments as the first term of training classes began for officials from political and legislative organs from around the country.
Zhou demanded greater efforts to improve political and legislative work so as to consolidate the Party's ruling status, maintain the country's stability and prosperity and safeguard peoples' livelihoods.
Zhou, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, urged political and legislative organs at all levels to resolutely adhere to the Party's leadership over their work and act in line with the policies of the CPC Central Committee on cardinal issues.
He called for leadership construction among political and legislative organs at various levels to ensure the implementation of the Party's policies and the country's laws.
