(Xinhua)

BEIJING, March 11 (Xinhua) -- Following are some quotes on Chinese participation in international affairs by political advisor Zhao Qizheng, head of Committee of Foreign Affairs of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee at the ongoing CPPCC annual session on Sunday:

-- Chinese need to have an updated and more open awareness of international affairs to match China's status on global stage and adapt to the trend of world development.

-- Chinese people increasingly care about China's status in the world, and pay close attention to the impact of international situation on China and have a stronger willingness to voice on international affairs.

-- The Chinese public need to know the international community more thoroughly and comprehensively.

-- The Chinese must avoid narrow nationalism, have a sense of national pride and dignity, and at the same time be far-sighted and broad-minded about the global issues.

-- The Chinese public must understand China's commitment and responsibility to the world and support the country's contribution to the world within its own capabilities and national comprehensive strength.

The Chinese people should learn more about the world around them as should all people. With a more international education the Chinese people will hopefully look towards their own government and demand change.

Information flow today can not be stopped and every Chinese can access to information of the world, but given the free and uncontrolled bloggers and unwanted slandering messages and even false and fabricated news from outside, it may not be wise to get infomations from these scum source. So the media must present report of outside world with carefully selected wording and assignment of meaning to each episode, direct translated news many a time is misleading and harmful to the local society. Many western media are putting out false news on the middle east , so its up to the Chinese media to explain and analys such news for the consumption of locals. There are many so call smart Alex and Alice will try to distort all kind of rpeorts just for the sake of confusing the Chinese, keep your eyes and ears on this!
