BEIJING, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese official Li Changchun on Friday called for more efforts in Marxism research so to provide theoretical support for the Party and country.

Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the remarks during an inspection to the Central Compilation and Translation Bureau (CCTB) of the CPC Central Committee.

Li inspected the newly-opened China Marxism Museum at the CCTB, hailing the great achievements that translators and theorists had made in the sinicization and popularization of Marxism in China over the course of more than a century.

Li spoke highly of the CCTB's work, saying the bureau had made great contributions in providing important theoretical resources for the construction of the Party's ideology.

Li urged the CCTB to make greater efforts in the compilation, research and publicizing of Marxism so to provide advice to the country's decision makers.

Sponsored by the CCTB and opened at the end of last year, the China Marxism Museum displays collections of Marxist works that have been translated and published in China over the past century.

The museum contains eight sections, each devoted to a different period of Marxist development in China. Photos, sculptures, photographic reproductions of historic documents and archives will be on display, allowing visitors to see how Marxist works were translated and spread throughout China.
