BEIJING, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- A senior political advisor pledged on Tuesday to strengthen inter-party political communication with Ethiopia.

Wang Gang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), made the remarks while meeting with a delegation headed by Addisu Leggese, a senior official of the Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) and former deputy prime minister of Ethiopia.

China will explore new channels for exchanges and cooperation and make positive contributions to the China-Ethiopia comprehensive partnership, Wang said.

As one of the first African countries to establish diplomatic relations with China, Ethiopia is a sincere friend and important partner, Wang said.

The Ethiopian delegation is visiting China in accordance with the second phase of the EPRDF senior officials' seminar, the first phase of which took place in June, when Wang met with senior officials from the Ethiopian political coalition.
