08:28, October 26, 2011

BEIJING, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Zhou Yongkang on Tuesday called for enhanced and innovative efforts in social management, in a bid to foster the country's socialist cultural construction.

Zhou, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks at a meeting while being debriefed on the situation regarding the management of China's non-public economic groups and social organizations.

Authorities should intensify research on non-public economic groups and social organizations and upgrade their services for, and management of such entities, so as to promote their healthy development, according to Zhou, who is also the head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee.

Zhou stressed making efforts to solve problems regarding social integrity, morality and Internet management -- issues which have all prompted public concern.

He also called for the early introduction of laws and regulations on the management of the Internet, telecommunications, social credit, household registration information, housing for low-income earners, public aid, charity and mental health fields, in order to improve China's social management system.
