BEIJING, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- Chinese senior officials on Thursday briefed the country's senior political advisors on the outcomes of the recent session of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, calling for suggestions from the advisors on cultural development.
Li Changchun, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said at a meeting held by the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), that it was an important time to strengthen the country's soft power by developing the socialist culture with Chinese characteristics.

The 17th Central Committee of the CPC concluded its sixth plenary session in Beijing Tuesday, adopting a guideline to improve the nation's cultural soft power and advocate Chinese traditional culture.

Li urged the CPPCC members to make more contributions to reforms and construction of the cultural systems.

Presiding over the session, Jia Qinglin, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, urged political advisors to learn from the CPC session's guideline, so to boost cultural development.

To provide jobs as automation reduces need for workers, and to create faster cultural development, require every business which sells products and services in China to pay salaries of a person in science, scholarship, or the Arts for every 2012 (to adjust for inflation) 500,000 American dollars worth of product sold in China per year, or something near that amount. Each trillion dollars in sales would support 2 million scholars, scholars, and people in the Arts.

More correctly, the issue should be described as "development of the Entertainment industry". "Culture" is just an abstract term covering these development. It is used in the same context of "freedom", "justice", "equality", "joy", "love", etc. You can"t abuse the word by applying it in a very limited "commercial development" context. "Culture" is far more broader than that! Sigh! The backwardness of our language and the people who uses it.
