Chinese VP urges Party members to serve the people

BEIJING, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Vice President Xi Jinping on Tuesday urged all members and cadres of the Communist Party of China (CPC) to show loyalty, discipline themselves and serve the people heart and soul.

Xi, also member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the call while meeting with a group of Party officials from southwest China's Sichuan Province, who gave a report on Li Linsen, a deceased local Party official known for his loyalty, diligence and clean governance.

Xi urged all Party members and cadres, especially those from the organizational departments, to learn from Li, who was director of the organizational department of a local Party committee.

Li died of liver cancer in July at the age of 42. Recently, the Organizational Department of the CPC Central Committee awarded Li the title of "National Excellent Organizational Cadre."
