Tianjin citizens use lanterns to mark Chinese Ghost Festival

On Aug. 14, people release lanterns on the bank of Haihe River in Tianjin municipality to celebrate the Chinese Ghost Festival, which falls on the seventh full moon in a lunar year. Many citizens came to the river bank to release handmade lanterns in memory of the departed and to advocate a new environmentally friendly sacrificial method at the same time. (Xinhua/Li Xiang)
