Int'l Conference on Conservation and Research of Kucha Caves held in China's Xinjiang

Guests unveil a newly-built research center during the International Conference on the Conservation and Research of the Kucha Caves in Baicheng county, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Aug. 8, 2011. The international conference, which drew scholars from eight countries, was held on Monday. A research center of the protection and technology on ancient murals in Xinjiang was founded during the conference to protect the Kucha Caves, one of China's most valuable Buddhist relics in the third century.
