During the World War II, nearly 40,000 Chinese were transported to 145 mining industries of 35 companies in Japan by Japanese troops. Under harsh conditions and pressure given by Japanese military forces, these men worked very hard . Some 6830 people died because of poor living conditions, such as hunger, illness and so on. Liu Lianren, whose hometown is Shandong, China, escaped from the work and hided himself as a wild man in the forrest of Hokkaido, north Japan. As the Japanese army surrendered in 1945, survivors of the labours were returned to China, living poorly in remote areas in the countryside. Some of them past away, while the others, with illness and diability, are waiting for a reply from Japan.
