Continuous rain ease drought along Ganjiang River

A freight boat sails pass the Nanchang City on Ganjiang River in east China Jiangxi Province as the river's water level reached 17.53 meters yesterday, three meters higher than the same time last year, thanks to continuous rains in the region.(Shanghai Daily Photo)

A lasting drought until last December in the region reduced the river water level down to historical lows several times, severely crippling water traffic and imperiling water supplies to cities along the river.
