A gigantic whale shark was found suffocated to death in a fishing net by a fisherman when he was working in China's Yellow Sea on Oct. 9, 2011.

The whale shark, which was dragged back to the Jishan Port, weighs around 15 tons and is 11 meters in length.

Whale shark is, by far, the world's largest fish species. Feeding mainly on plankton and small fish, it lives in the tropical and warm oceans.

This is such a shame when a whale shark is accidentally killed, but even more so when they are harvested for their fins. I only hope more is done to protect the beautiful whale sharks before it is too late.
