Machines facilitate cotton harvesting in Xinjiang

On Oct.7, a cotton-picking machine is picking cottons in Akesu agricultural reclamation areas in Xinjiang autonomous region. (Xinhua/Chen Jiansheng)

This year, the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps plants 506, 666 hectare of cotton, of which, 233,333 hectare is picked by machines, accounting for 46 percent of the total number. One cotton-picking machine can manage the work as 600 cotton pickers which will help to lower the harvest cost about 300 yuan per mu.
