STOCKHOLM, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- The 2011 Stockholm International Film Festival to be held from Nov. 9-20 will put love stories on spotlight, said the festival director Git Scheynius on Wednesday.

"Our team has gathered all kinds of films we can reach, but we have a spotlight this year called love stories," Scheynius told Xinhua after a press conference in Stockholm.

"We have been covering politics, the natural catastrophes, the violence in the society, and the turn has come to love, we have got inspired by Mexican director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu in his way of making films, where he started a personal love relationship to try to discover what is going on in our world," Scheynius explained.

The productions of Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu include Amores Perros, 21 gram, Babel and Biutiful.

He will come to Stockholm to receive the Stockholm Visionary Award 2011 for "taking us on a journey from the slums of Mexico through the underground of Barcelona to the neon lights of Tokyo, where he manages to depict globalization from an individualistic perspective," said Scheynius.

According to Scheynius, this year's festival is the meeting point for next generation's film creators with a lot of newcomers and more female directors than ever.

The 22 Stockholm International Film Festival will present 173 films from 44 countries and regions, with one third of them are made by a debutant director and 26 percent made by female directors.

This year's Lifetime Achievement Award goes to French actress Isabelle Huppert.
