HONG KONG, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- The International Arts Leadership Roundtable kicked off Friday in Hong Kong, aiming to foster exchange of views on the key trends and issues which will influence arts development and related policy and strategy.

Organized by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (ADC), the theme of the meeting is "Looking 10 Years Ahead: Towards a More Vibrant Arts Ecology." Thirty important international and local arts leaders were invited to attend.

According to the organizer, it is hoped that the two-day event will address cultural development issues, share good practices and establish and strengthen networks between cultural institutions in different countries.

The meeting covers three main topics, including "opportunities and challenges for arts development in the time of change from a regional perspective," "a regional outlook of the conditions and strategies that foster vibrant local arts ecology" and "The future of public and private sector funding for the arts with regional focus."

"Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government allocates 3.09 billion Hong Kong dollars (400 million U.S. dollars) in the field of culture and arts in 2012/ 2013 to strive to develop Hong Kong into a prominent hub of cultural exchanges," said Raymond Young, Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs at the opening ceremony.

There are 16 performance venues of varying sizes and capacities situated at accessible locations all over the territory. The HKSAR government also manages 14 public museums, the Hong Kong Film Archive, two heritage centers and the Art Promotion Office.
