A mystery castle: Residence of a minister in Qing dynasty

People's Daily Online)  08:13, April 24, 2013

Edited and translated by Li Qian, People's Daily Online

This is the former residence of Chen Tingjing, a great scholar of Wen-yuan-ko and minister of the Board of Civil Office in the Qing Dynasty, and final reviewer of Kangxi dictionary who served Emperor Kangxi for nearly half a century.

The building consists of the inner and outer parts; the inner city was from the Ming Dynasty, and the outer city was built in the Qing Dynasty. Albeit their distinctive functions and charms, the inner city and the outer one combine quite uniquely, to form a castle as well as a residence.
