Health and safety tips for holidays

(People's Daily Online)

More people will likely travel with their family or friends during the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays as the weather is expected to be nice, and expressway tolls will be temporarily waived during the period. However, travelers should be cautious to prevent foodborne and respiratory infectious diseases.

Traveling with safety in mind

Before setting out, most travelers would search on the Internet for distinguishing features of their destinations. They should also check the prevalence of diseases there. In order to prevent unnecessary damage, they should not go to wild land in blind pursuit of novelty. In addition, the amount of physical activity should be moderate, and complete warm-ups are required to prevent injuries during physical activity.

Bringing necessary medication

Fall is the high-incidence season of seasonal flu and other respiratory infectious diseases. Timely treatment is needed when a high fever and bad cough persist. The elderly, children, patients of chronic diseases, and physically weak people should receive flu vaccines.

Travelers should bring with them medication to ward off colds, diarrhea, and motion sickness as well as adhesive bandages. Once an injury occurs or disease is suspected, they should go to licensed clinics, or return home if the situation is serious.
