New CCTV building to hold its first gala

The "Five-One Project" Award was established by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee to recognize great works in the art circle. Five "one" stands for "a drama, a TV play, a TV documentary, a book and a thesis" which are outstanding and representative. The awards will be given out in a grand gala on the stage of the new CCTV building. Let's get a sneak peek at the rehearsal.

A grand gala celebrating great works. China boasts a diversity in the art circle, more than 100 works of drama, TV play, films, animations and more will be awarded.

Chen Linchun, director, said,"Unlike other galas, this one is all about the award-winners. It celebrates the achievements that the country has made in spiritual civilization construction in a very artistic way."

Stage play, singing, poetry recitation are just a slice of the shows in the gala. They are all adapted from the outstanding award-winning works.

Yin Xiumei, artist, said," I didn't win the award this year but I am truly happy for the winners. This is one of the top awards in our country and I hope one day I can win this honor too."

Established in 1992 by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the "Five-One Project" Awards aim to promote the spiritual civilization construction in the country. This year it looked to commend great films, TV series, animations, radio plays, dramas, books, songs among others. 176 works were selected.

The gala is the first one of its kind held in the new CCTV station. Set against the backdrop of the unique building, it will sure wow a packed crowd! CCTV will air the gala on October 1st.
