Villager carries down 600-year-old opera Dixi in SW China

Huang Shicheng (R) takes part in the performance of Dixi, a type of local opera known for its colorful masks, at Baoleitun Village in Anshun city, southwest China's Guizhou province, Aug. 22, 2012. The traditional performance of Dixi has been passed down through five generations of Huang's family for over a century, and Huang himself began to learn Dixi 30 years ago. In order to carry forward Dixi, which can date back over 600 years, Huang has organized children and women in the village to learn the opera. Dixi is considered a national intangible cultural heritage opera. (Xinhua/Ou Dongqu)
