Chushu, the limit of heat, is one of twenty four points in traditional Chinese lunisolar calendar. The day of Chushu signifies the turning point of hot weather. At this time, Chinese people prefer to cook seasonal vegetables and fruits to get rid of the heat of body.

Here are two recipes recommended.

Lotus root with honey salad

Scald the skinned and sliced lotus root then place slices into the mixing bowl. Gently toss the salad with honey and serve immediately.

Lotus roots have been found to be rich in dietary fiber, vitamin C, potassium, thiamin, riboflavin, vitamin B6, phosphorus, copper, and manganese, while very low in saturated fat.

Honey is a mixture of sugars and other nutritious compounds. As with all nutritive sweeteners, honey is mostly sugars and contains only trace amounts of vitamins or minerals. Honey also contains tiny amounts of several compounds thought to function as antioxidants.
