A TV documentary depicting Russia's landscape and culture is now on TV in the Chinese mainland.

Some 100 Chinese journalists traveled to over 20 Russian cities to shoot footage for the show.

Co-produced by China Radio International, the documentary is part of a joint cultural project between the government of China and Russia to mark the Russian Tourism Year.

Over 200-thousand Chinese tourists visited Russia in 2011.

A Russian diplomat says the TV documentary is significant when it comes to introducing Russia to the Chinese.

Russia is only the 11th most popular tourism destination for Chinese people.
