The result for The Handbook of the Birds of the World (HBW) has recently been released and more than 3,000 different photos have been submitted. Photographers from 128 countries handed in their work showing various moments of birds' lives, some flying, some seeking for food, some fighting, some resting… A picture taken by a Spanish photographer, showing a cormorant chasing for a group of fish, was said to be the "most amazing picture".

The HBW, consisting of 16 volumes in total, is an encyclopedia book trying to cover every known living species of bird in the world. Many of the photos received will be awarded. All the photos submitted are so good and it will be a tough call for the juries to decide which ones are to be used.
