Art on the move through space and time

The Lingsheng Art Institution Ltd, Beijing Bloom Gallery and the Royal Scottish Academy will hold an exhibition tour for innovative Chinese artists next January in Edinburgh.

Entitled Moving Beyond, the show will feature cutting-edge works by selected artists, including oil painter He Duoling, conceptual artist Shang Yang and print maker Su Xinping, says poet, writer and curator Yang Lian.

"The past decade has witnessed the amazing hike of contemporary Chinese art auction prices, but I think the mostly political paintings that fetch astronomical prices do not necessarily represent the real beauty, vitality and depth of Chinese contemporary art," Yang says.

Royal Scottish Academy art scholar Janet Mckenzie and Yang will go with a band of Chinese art critics to visit art studios across the country in the coming months to decide who will make the
