On Dec.8, hundreds of devoted Beatles fans gathered in the Strawberry Fields, an area of New York's Central Park to mourn on the anniversary of John Lennon's death.

Those fans presented flowers, burned candles, showed Lennon's photos and sang Beatles classics like "Strawberry Fields Forever," "Imagine" and other songs.

The Imagine mosaic in Strawberry Fields originated from John Lennon's anti-war song "Imagine." In the song Lennon sang "Imagine there's no countries ...Nothing to kill or die for ... No need for greed or hunger, a brotherhood of man..."

John Lennon was shot by Mark David Chapman, a deranged fan, in 1980 in front of the Dakota apartment building where Lennon lived. The entrance to the memorial is located on Central Park West at West 72nd Street, directly across from the Dakota Apartments, where Lennon had lived for the later part of his life.
