Memorial events to be held for 74th anniversary of Nanjing massacre

People visit the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders, in Nanjing, east China's Jiangsu Province, on Dec. 12, 2011. Several memorial events are scheduled to be held here since Monday to mark the 74th anniversary of a tragedy that claimed the lives of 300,000 Chinese civilians and disarmed soldiers by Japanese invaders on Dec. 13, 1937, during World War II.
