China invests large sums to protect Jiayu Pass

Recently, the Jiayu Pass Cultural Heritage Protection Activity kicked off in the city of Jiayuguan in Gansu Province.

The protection project consists of three main parts: Great Wall protection, construction of the World Cultural Heritage Monitoring Center and construction of the World Cultural Heritage Park. The total budget of the project is a little more than 2 billion yuan.

The main construction items of the Jiayu Pass Cultural Heritage Protection Project include: protection and maintenance of the Great Wall section in the city of Jiayuguan: protection and maintenance of the walls of the Jiayu Pass, repair of the wooden structure of the Jiayu Pass, recovery of the decorations, paintings and historic buildings of the Jiayu Pass, and construction of security facilities; protection and reinforcement of the First Pillar of the Great Wall; construction of the Heritage Monitoring Center; construction of the Cultural Heritage Park's infrastructure, landscapes, and reception and service facilities, improvement of the surrounding environment, exhibition of intangible cultural heritages and ecological protection of the Nine-Spring Lake.
