The construction phase of Music Valley, a planned national music industry base with an area of 10 square kilometers, recently began. The Music Workshop, an integral component of the Music Valley that combines musical instrument manufacturers, music studios and music enterprises, can help to fill the current developmental gaps in all sectors of China's music industry.

China Music Valley, located in Donggaocun Village of the Pinggu District of Beijing, is not only a cluster of the musical and cultural creative industry of Beijing but also the national music industry base granted by the General Administration of Press and Publication.

According to the plan, China Music Valley is divided into two parts: YUE, an industry cluster area and LE, a cultural leisure area. Based on the original violin manufacturing industry of Donggaocun Village, the industrial cluster area will be built first, and the Music Workshop is the first pilot project.

The Music Workshop, the logo of which is a capital M, occupies a total construction area of 80,000 square meters, including 40,000 square meters of standardized workshops, 30,000 square meters of musicians' studios as well as 10,000 square meters of commercial facilities.

The standardized workshop is a 100-meter-by-20-meter space for musical instrument production and display as well as commerce conducted by enterprises based in the workshop. The musicians’ studio will attract original musicians to build their own personalized work rooms there.

China Music Valley not only can offer the musicians a beautiful natural environment due to its location near the Qinglong Mountain Scenic Area but also can provide them preferential policies as it is a Music Industry Base. The complete business facilities in the valley can provide convenient and comfortable living environment for musicians.

Zhao Wei, the deputy director of the China Music Valley Administrative Commission, said that all the links of the Chinese musical industry have their clearly defined responsibilities: Composers only write songs and music sellers only sell records. For this reason a complete industrial chain cannot be formed in the domestic music industry. Without another dimension, musical companies cannot do downstream and upstream businesses at the same time and they find it hard to survive. The foundation of the Music Valley can integrate all links of the domestic music industry to build a music industry park with a complete industrial chain.

The Music Workshop is the first pilot project developed in the China Music Valley that integrated all links in the music industry. In the music workshop, you can find manufacturers of all kinds of musical instruments and musicians can customize their personalized performance equipment nearby, Zhao said.

At the end of this year, construction will start on the integrated service center of Music Valley. This center, shaped like a mellow water drop, occupies an area of 150,000 square meters. In addition to the administrative commission, there are many other installations in the center that can offer comprehensive services to the enterprises in the valley.
