On Aug. 21 Yang Zhi, deputy minister of the Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of China said at the third China Tibetan Cultural Forum that during the Twelfth Five-Year National Plan period, the central government's intangible cultural heritage protection fund will invest more into Tibet and it is expected to invest 1.6 billion yuan to support the protection and inheritance of Tibetan intangible cultural heritage.

At present, Tibet has formed a state, autonomous region, municipality and county four-class list system for intangible cultural heritages. Seventy-six items, such as Tibetan medicine, Tibetan paper, thangka painting, and Langma dance and music, have been included in the intangible cultural heritage list.

Fifty-three artists have been selected as representative successors of national intangible cultural heritage. A total of 222 masterpieces have been listed into the intangible cultural heritage list of the Tibetan autonomous region.

A total of more than 400 people, including experts and scholars from home and abroad, young overseas Chinese leaders, business celebrities as well as teachers and students from the University of Tibet, have attended the third China Tibetan Cultural Forum held by the Chinese Tibetan Culture Protection and Development Association under the theme "The Inheritance and Development of Tibetan Intangible Cultural Heritage."
