Australia's biggest exhibition of Pablo Picasso's works will be held at the Art Gallery of New South Wales (NSW) in Sydney in November, local media reported on Wednesday.

The exhibition, Picasso: Masterpieces from the Musee National Picasso in Paris, will feature 150 paintings, sculptures, prints and drawings from every phase of the career of the Spanish artist, who died in 1973.

"The works are drawn from the permanent collection of the Musee National Picasso in Paris, the largest and most significant repository of the artist's work in the world," NSW Events minister George Souris said in a statement on Wednesday.

"You don't need to travel to Paris, London or New York to experience the world's best art - you can experience it right here in our global city of Sydney," he added.

The exhibition, which will run for more than four months from November 12 to March 25, 2012, presents iconic works of Picasso, including The Weeping Woman, Two Women Running on the Beach, The Two Brothers and The Matador.

Art Gallery of NSW director Edmund Capon said the show would be the greatest Picasso exhibition ever seen in Australia.

"Make the most of it because we will never have such a show again," he said.
