"The great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation must be achieved by upholding peace, development and cooperation," Chinese President Hu Jintao said at a ceremony marking the 100th anniversary of China's 1911 Revolution.

He has reaffirmed China's strong determination and confidence in adhering to an independent foreign policy, a path of peaceful development and the strategy of mutual benefit, win-win progress and opening up.

A century of history since the 1911 Revolution has proven that the development and progress of the Chinese nation depends on both a sound and united domestic environment and a peaceful and stable international environment. The trend of the times toward peace, development and cooperation has become increasingly evident around the world. China's future and fate is closely linked with that of the world. China must adhere to the principles of peace, development and cooperation in the great course of the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

China must always follow the path of peaceful development when upholding peace, development and cooperation. Because the Chinese people once suffered severely from the invasions of foreign powers, they have a deeper understanding and higher expectation of peace.

China must unswervingly hold to an independent foreign policy and follow the path of peaceful development. China has and will always serve as a positive force preserving the world peace and the Chinese people will make persistent efforts for the lofty cause of the peaceful development of mankind.

Holding high the banner of peace, development and cooperation, China should focus on development, grasp every development opportunity, and comply with the trends of the times. China needs the world for development, and the world also needs China. Facing the new opportunities and challenges brought about by the world development, China must pursue development on its own initiative, and adhere to the integration of independence and economic globalization. Looking forward, China will continue with the policy of reform and opening-up, and make unremitting efforts to promote its social and economic development.

Holding high the banner of peace, development and cooperation, China must adhere to the open strategy of win-win cooperation. Today's world is undergoing major and profound changes, and countries with different regimes, development levels and cultures are becoming increasingly interdependent on one another.

China will devote great efforts to making economic globalization a balanced and win-win process that benefits all countries, and to promoting the establishment of a fairer and more reasonable international political and economic order, so more people across the world can share in the fruits of development in the 21st century.

"If China becomes powerful again, it should not only restore its great power status but also shoulder its share of responsibility toward the world," said Dr. Sun Yat-sen, who led the 1911 Revolution. The dream of the revolutionary forefather is coming true in this great Eastern country.

As the world's most populous country, China has been making remarkable achievements in the past few decades, which has not only brought development, prosperity, and progress to itself but also helped build a peaceful, prosperous and harmonious world that benefits all mankind.
