Zambian soccer champions refuse to transfer striker to Israeli club

14:26, December 06, 2011

LUSAKA, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- Zambia's 2011 premier soccer league champions Power Dynamos refused to transfer teenager striker Felix Nyaende to an Israeli club, the Zambia Daily Mail reported on Monday.

Israel's Hapoel Ra'anan AFC had offered 50,000 U.S. dollars for Nyaende, who is also the Under-23 national soccer team striker.

But the Zambian club said it would only release the player if the Israeli side mets its demanding.

"There is no problem on our part, as long as they put in an improved transfer bid we will not stand in his way because we know he is ambitious of playing in Europe," Justin Kapoma, the club's secretary was quoted as saying by the paper.

The 19-year-old striker attended trials with the Israel side early this year. The teenager has scored 11 goals in the Zambian league this season.

The official disclosed that an Egyptian team had also expressed interest in the teenager.
