Mozambique will play against the Comoros Island in the first phase of the 2014 Brazil World Cup qualifier, state radio reported on Sunday.

It said that the drawing lots, done in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro on Saturday, set Mozambique to play against the island in Maputo in the first leg of the competition.

Both Mozambique and the Comoros are in the same qualifying group of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations to be held in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

According to Radio Mozambique, if the Mozambican national team beats the Comoros in both legs, the team will be in group G for the next stage of qualification, which also includes Egypt, Equatorial Guinea and Zimbabwe.

The winners of the group, together with winners from the other nine groups, will be split into five two-leg ties and aggregate winners qualify for 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
